Opportunities for Public Involvement

Public involvement is a critical element when providing people with disabilities the accommodations, locations and infrastructure design that are most meaningful. It also helps SHA determine how to prioritize projects, to determine if anything has been overlooked or evaluate if field-level efforts meet public needs. Public involvement takes many forms. It is required as part of the self-evaluation and transition plan. Ongoing dialogue with people with disabilities, both individually and in groups, works to help SHA accommodate people with disabilities at various meetings.

Public Meetings

Public meetings provide a forum for the public to comment on the results of the field inventory portion of the Self Evaluation. Input from these meetings is used to validate our field reviews, advise us of other challenges best identified by pedestrians with disabilities, and provide input into the prioritization of projects in the Transition Plan.
