all of the Office of Bridge Development's award winning bridges.
Included will be selected photographs of some of our latest award
winners.
The Linden Lane
Bridge over the Capitol Beltway in Montgomery County, Maryland was
presented with an Award of Merit for Highway Grade Separation -
1964 by the American Institute of Steel Construction.
The Thomas
Johnson Memorial Bridge on Maryland Route 4 over the Patuxent River
in Calvert County, Maryland received two awards in 1978, an award
of appreciation from the American Consulting Engineers Council,
and an Innovative Excellence in Engineering Design award from Consulting
Engineers Council of Maryland.
The Woodrow
Wilson Memorial Bridge on Interstate 95 over the Potomac River on
the Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia borders was presented with
two awards from the Consulting Engineers Council, one for Engineering
Excellence and the other for Innovative Engineering Excellence in
1984.
The Bohemia
River Bridge on Maryland 213 over the Bohemia River in Cecil
County, Maryland was awarded the 1988 Prestressed Concrete Institute's
Excellence in Architectural and Engineering Design Award for using
precast prestressed concrete.
The Severn
River Bridge on US Rte. 50/301 over the Severn River in Anne Arundel
County, Maryland was presented with two awards, one from the American
Society of Civil Engineers as the Outstanding Civil Engineering
Achievement in 1987 and one from the Federal Highway Administration
- the 1988 Biennial Award for Excellence in Highway Design, First
Place Cost Saving.
The bridge on
Interstate 68 over Eastbound Interstate 97 in Anne Arundel County,
Maryland was given the 1988 Excellence in Engineering Design award
from the Consulting Engineers Council.
The Deal Island
Bridge on Maryland 363 over the Upper Thorofare in Somerset County
Maryland, was given an award from the American Concrete Institute
in Recognition of Creative Use of Concrete - 1988.
The redecking
of Dual Bridges on Interstate 83 over Gunpowder Falls in Baltimore
County, Maryland was presented with Innovative Excellence in Engineering
Design Award - 1985 from the Consulting Engineers Council.
The Choptank
River Bridge (US Route 50 over the Choptank River) in Dorchester
County, Maryland was presented with two awards one for Special Recognition
for the Creative Use of Precast and Prestressed Concrete - 1987
from the Prestressed Concrete Institute and one from the Consulting
Engineers Council for Innovative Excellence in Engineering Design
- 1988.
The Corsica
River Bridge on Maryland 304 crossing Corsica Creek in Queen Annes
County, Maryland was given the 1986 Award of Excellence in the use
of Concrete by the American Concrete Institute.
