12/6/2012SHA to Patch Pavement on MD 151 in Dundalk Beginning on or after December 11
The State Highway Administration (SHA) will patch and repair MD 151 (North Point Blvd./Sparrows Point Blvd.) between MD 695 (Baltimore Beltway/Patapsco Freeway) and Seventh Street beginning Tuesday, December 11.  Crews will temporarily close lanes and have flagging operations along sections of MD 151  between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

12/6/2012SHA Begins Pavement Patching on MD 145 (Sweet Air Road) on or after December 6
The State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin a $350,000 project to repair and patch a section of MD 145 (Sweet Air Road) between MD 146 (Jarrettsville Pike) and Manor Road on or after Thursday, December 6. 

Crews may temporarily close lanes and have a flagging operation along this section of Sweet Air Road between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

11/26/2012SHA Hosting Community Meeting on MD 157 (Merritt Blvd.) Project Nov. 28 at North Point Library
Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) staff will host a community meeting at the North Point Library at 7 p.m. November 28 to provide information about SHA’s upcoming project to improve safety and ride quality on MD 157 (Merritt Boulevard) from Peninsula Expressway to Wise Avenue in Dundalk, Baltimore County.

11/26/2012SHA to Re-open Ramp from I-695 South to MD 144 (Frederick Rd.) at Exit 13 on or after November 28
SHA has reached a major milestone of the I-695/Frederick Road bridge replacement project.  Beginning 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, crews will shift all traffic on the old Frederick Road bridge over to the first half of the new Frederick Road bridge.  Crews will also re-open the ramp from I-695 South/Outer Loop to Frederick Road, which has been closed for construction work.

11/26/2012SHA Maintenance Work on I-795 North of Owings Mills Begins Week of November 26
On or after November 26, SHA is beginning a $300,000 highway pavement maintenance project to resurface approaches to bridges along southbound and northbound I-795 between the MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) interchnage and the bridge over Church Road.  Crews will work as weather permits through December 2012 and January 2013.  Single lane closures will be in effect in the work zone between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday - Thursday and between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Friday.

(November 8, 2012) – The Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) has reached a milestone in its $13 million major construction project to replace the I-695 North (Baltimore Beltway inner loop) Bridge over Wilkens Avenue (MD 372) in southwestern Baltimore County.

BGE and SHA will close and detour the ramp from northbound I-695 (Beltway inner loop) to eastbound Security Boulevard (MD 122) between 12:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13 and 5 a.m. Monday, October 15 to restore concrete pavement on the ramp after recent gas line repairs underneath the ramp.

9/27/2012SHA TO REPAIR PAVEMENT ON I-95 IN SOUTHWESTERN BALTIMORE COUNTY ON WEEKNIGHTS FALL 2012
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is beginning pavement repair work along I-95 in southwestern Baltimore County this Sunday night.  Crews will work along I-95 between the Howard/Baltimore County line and the Baltimore County/City line weeknights as temperatures permit through late fall.  SHA recommends that travelers plan ahead for extra travel time and anticipate late night travel delays.

9/25/2012BGE REPAIRS GAS LINE UNDER RAMP FROM INNER LOOP I-695 TO EASTBOUND SECURITY BOULEVARD AT NIGHT BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 26
Beginning 9 p.m. Wednesday, September 26, Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) and the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close the ramp from the inner loop of I-695 to eastbound Security Boulevard (MD 122) on weeknights for approximately one month.

9/21/2012Weekend Pavement Work and Ramp/Lane Closures on I-795 - September 22 and 23
SHA and its contractor are continuing to repair concrete pavement along I-795 south of Owings Mills. 

SHA will close the right lane of I-795 South one mile prior to the ramp to I-695 South/Outer Loop between 2 p.m. Saturday 9/22 and noon Sunday 9/23. 

SHA will also close the ramp from Owings Mills Boulevard North to I-795 South between 12 a.m. Sunday 9/23 and 3 p.m. Sunday 9/23

Detour: Red Run Boulevard to Painters Mill Road to MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) North to Owings Mills Boulevard South to I-795 South.

All lane and ramp closures are weather permitting and schedules may change.

9/7/2012SHA Advises Motorists of Overnight Ramp Work along I-795 Beginning Friday, September 7
SHA is temporarily narrowing or closing interchange ramps on I-795 (Northwest Expressway between Owings Mills Boulevard and I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) at night beginning Friday, September 7.  The temporary overnight traffic pattern changes will alllow contract crews to safely repair and/or mill concrete pavement on interchange ramps this weekend and early next week.  Weather permitting, this work will be complete Wednesday morning, September 12.

8/27/2012I-695 Traffic Alert: SHA to Close/Detour Ramp from I-695 South to MD 144 (Frederick Road) at Exit 12 for One Month Beginning Sep. 9, 2012
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close the ramp from I-695 South (Beltway outer loop) to MD 144 (Frederick Road) for approximately one month beginning 8 p.m. Sunday night, September 9. 

The temporary long-term ramp closure is part of SHA’s $16.5 million project to replace the MD 144 (Frederick Road) bridge over I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) and improve safety and traffic operations at the I-695/MD 144 interchange.

8/23/2012BGE Repairs Gas Utility Line at Ramp from Eastbound Security Blvd. to Southbound I-695; Ramp Closed 10 p.m. Friday, August 24 - 5 a.m. Monday, August 27
Beginning 10 p.m. Friday, August 24, Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) and the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will temporarily close the ramp from eastbound Security Boulevard (MD 122) to southbound I-695 (Beltway Outer Loop).  The weekend ramp closures and detours will allow BGE crews to repair a major gas line underneath the ramp.  The ramp closure will be in effect between 10 p.m. Friday, August 24 and 5 a.m. Monday, August 27.

SHA is temporarily closing and detouring interchange ramps along I-795 (Northwest Expressway) between Owings Mills Boulevard and I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) at night on Wednesday, August 15 and Thursday, August 16. The closures will take place this week for night-time concrete pavement milling work.  SHA also plans to close one lane along southbound I-795 beginning Friday, August 17 for weekend concrete pavement removal and replacement work.

7/27/2012SHA OPENS NEW MERGE LANE ON I-695 NORTH AT LIBERTY ROAD; REOPENS RAMP FROM LIBERTY ROAD EAST TO I-695 NORTH
(July 27, 2012) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) is nearing completion of its $25 million project to replace the I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) bridge over MD 26 (Liberty Road) in northwestern Baltimore County.  After 10 p.m. Saturday night, July 28, weather permitting, SHA’s contractor will reconfigure pavement markings to create the final traffic pattern on northbound I-695 (Inner Loop), including a new auxiliary/merge lane at the interchange. At the same time, crews will re-open the right-turn ramp from eastbound Liberty to northbound I-695.

7/26/2012SHA Closing Two Right Lanes Along On Southbound I-795 For Weekend Concrete Repair Work July 27-30 - NEW DATE
(July 26, 2012) - The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is temporarily closing two of three lanes along southbound I-795 (Northwest Expressway) between Owings Mills Boulevard (MD 940) and I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) this weekend for concrete pavement patching work. 

Contractor crews will close the right lane of southbound I-795 beginning 9 p.m. Friday, July 27, and will close the middle lane at 10 p.m.  The left lane will remain open to traffic.  The temporary double lane closure will remain in effect until 5 a.m. Monday, July 30.

7/12/2012SHA TEMPORARILY REMOVES SECTION OF SOUND BARRIER ALONG I-695 INNER LOOP SOUTH OF I-795
(July 12, 2012) – Beginning today, the State Highway Administration (SHA) is removing sections of sound barrier along the inner loop of I-695 prior to I-795 in the Scotts Hill community.

Late last month, SHA became aware of a slight lean in sections of sound barrier along northbound I-695 between the I-695 Bridge over Milford Mill Road and the ramp to I-795.

6/25/2012New Ramps and Signals at I-95/MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard) Interchange Open to Traffic 9 p.m. June 27
Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Traffic Advisory (June 25, 2012) As part of the MD Transportation Authority’s (MDTA) I-95 Express Toll LanesSM (ETLsSM) Project, contractors have installed two temporary ramps for the following movements: northbound I-95 to westbound MD 43 (Exit 67B, White Marsh Boulevard), and southbound I-95 to eastbound MD 43 (Exit 67A, White Marsh Boulevard) around 9 p.m. on June 27.  Motorists should be aware that both ramp movements will change to traffic signal intersections; one new traffic signal and two right turn lanes will be at the ends of both ramps. The existing merge ramps will be closed. 6/25/2012SHA Continues Resurfacing on I-83 JFX North of Baltimore City/County Line
(June 22, 2012) – The State Highway Administration (SHA) is continuing nighttime resurfacing on I-83 (Jones Falls Expressway) in Baltimore County.  Crews are repairing, grinding and resurfacing pavement along southbound and northbound I-83 between Old Pimlico Road (south of Falls Road) and the Baltimore City Line until mid-summer.

6/25/2012SHA Closes/Detours Ramp from US 40 East to MD 715 South in Aberdeen for One Year Beginning June 28
(June 20, 2012) – Weather permitting, on Thursday morning, June 28, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will close the ramp from eastbound US 40 (Pulaski Highway/Philadelphia Boulevard) to southbound MD 715 (Short Lane) for approximately one year.  A detour will direct drivers traveling on eastbound US 40 toward the Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) – Maryland Gate and local businesses on MD 715 to stay left on eastbound US 40 and use a new temporary traffic signal to make a left turn across westbound US 40 and onto a temporary interchange ramp connection to southbound MD 715.

6/25/2012Giant Exelon Transformer to Slowly Roll Through Harford County June 25-29; Temporary Road Closures and Detours in Effect
(June 20, 2012) - The State Highway Administration (SHA), Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA), the Maryland State Police (MSP) and Harford County Government agencies are assisting Exelon Corporation with an oversized vehicle transport through Harford County beginning in Havre de Grace Monday night, June 25 and ending Thursday night, June 28 south of Delta, Pa.  There will be temporary road and ramp closures at various times along the route which includes: MD 155, the I-95/MD 155 interchange, MD 22, MD 136 and MD 165.

6/25/2012Governor O'Malley Announces Funding for MD 140/Painters Mill Road Intersection in Baltimore County
(June 12, 2012) - Committed to improving safety and relieving congestion for tens of thousands of commuters in Baltimore County, Governor Martin O’Malley today announced $1.1 million in funding to design and engineer improvements at the MD 140 intersection with Painters Mill Road in Owings Mills.  The project is Baltimore County’s number one highway priority.

6/8/2012SHA REACHES NEW MILESTONE ON CHARLES STREET BRIDGE OVER I-695; NEW TRAFFIC PATTERNS IN EFFECT MONDAY, JUNE 11
SHA is entering the final phase of the I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) / MD 139 (Charles Street) bridge replacement and interchange reconstruction project in Lutherville. Beginning 7 p.m. Friday night, June 8, crews will remove the existing roundabout at the intersection of Charles Street and Bellona Avenue; activate two new traffic signals, one at the former roundabout location and the other at the ramp from the outer loop of I-695 to Charles Street; open the new ramp from Bellona Avenue Extended (Lutherville side) to the outer loop of I-695 and northbound I-83 (Baltimore-Harrisburg Expressway).

6/8/2012BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON PARKWAY (MD 295) RESURFACING CONTINUES NORTH OF I-695
(May 31, 2012) – The resurfacing of MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) north of I-695 and the Baltimore City line is well underway and will continue through mid-June.  Despite recent storms, crews are making good progress on the 1.4 mile paving project.  The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) expects the paving on northbound MD 295 to be completed tomorrow, June 1 weather permitting.  Paving on southbound MD 295 will begin next week

(May 29, 2012) –This week, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin a project to replace a culvert on MD 147 (Harford Road) over a tributary to the Little Gunpowder Falls in Kingsville.   Weather permitting, the $163,000 project will be complete by mid-August.

5/10/2012SHA TEMPORARILY CLOSES RAMPS FROM MD 715 TO US 40 EAST TO REPLACE UNDERGROUND PIPES MAY 12-14
The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) is temporarily closing and detouring the interchange ramps from MD 715 north and south (Short Lane) to US 40 east (Pulaski Highway/Philadelphia Boulevard) this weekend to replace three drainage pipes underneath the ramps.   Beginning 5 a.m. Saturday, May 12, drivers using MD 715 traveling to eastbound US 40 (towards the Walmart and downtown Aberdeen) and westbound US 40 (towards Riverside and Edgewood) will be directed to use Old Philadelphia Road for approximately one mile to reach US 40 East.  The detour will be in effect until 5 a.m. Monday, May 14.

(April 13, 2012) -  Next Monday (April 16), the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin a $620,000 project to repair pavement along MD 165 (Federal Hill Road) between Jarrettsville Road and Midsummer Lane in northern Harford County.  Weather permitting the project will be complete prior to Memorial Day.

Revised April 19, 2012 (April 13, 2012) – Last week, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) began a $200,000 project to repair pavement on approaches to bridges along northbound and southbound I-83 (Baltimore-Harrisburg Expressway) in northern Baltimore County.  SHA anticipates completing the resurfacing by late April 2012 (New date).

4/12/2012I-83 JONES FALLS EXPRESSWAY LANE CLOSURES IN BALTIMORE CITY TO BEGIN APRIL 13
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that beginning Friday, April 13, 2012 at 7:00 p.m., the left lane of both the northbound and southbound Jones Falls Expressway in the vicinity of 29th Street and Druid Park Lake Drive will be closed. Contact: Baltimore City Department of Transportation (410) 361-9296 The lane closures are needed for emergency repairs to collapsed drainage pipes that are located underneath the expressway and have caused significant washout and undermining conditions. Once the closures are implemented, they will remain in effect until construction is complete, which is expected to take up to six to eight weeks. However, the duration of construction is uncertain at this time, and the lane closures could extend beyond this period.

3/27/2012SHA Closes/Detours Ramp from I-695 North/Inner Loop to MD 372 (Wilkens Ave.) West Through Late Fall 2012
SHA will close and detour traffic on the I-695 North (Baltimore Beltway inner loop) ramp to westbound MD 372 (Wilkens Avenue -Exit 12C) on Tuesday night, March 27.  This traffic change is scheduled to take place as part of the next phase of SHA’s $13 million project to replace I-695 inner loop bridge over Wilkens Avenue in Baltimore County.     Crews will begin closing travel lanes at 7 p.m.; three lanes will be closed by 11 p.m. Once the ramp is closed, motorists will then use the first interchange ramp for eastbound Wilkens Avenue - Exit 12B.  SHA will adjust the temporary traffic signal system at the interchange to allow motorists to either turn left onto westbound Wilkens Avenue or turn right onto eastbound Wilkens Avenue.  The new traffic pattern will be in effect by 5 a.m. Wednesday, March 28 through fall 2012. In case of inclement weather, crews will close the ramp on the next possible weeknight.  Bridge construction work at the interchange will continue through summer 2013.  SHA’s contractor is The Six-M Company, Inc. of Delta, Pa.

3/26/2012SHA Temporarily Closes Right Turn Lane on MD 139 (Charles St.) at Kenilworth Dr. until Early June 2012
SHA is temporarily closing the right lane on northbound MD 139 (Charles Street) between the Joppa Road overpass and Kenilworth Drive for two months beginning Monday morning through early June. During the next two months, crews will widen the northbound Charles Street approach to the intersection, which is south of the I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) / Charles Street Interchange.  This section of roadway will be reconstructed to meet the alignment of the future northbound lanes of the new Charles Street Bridge over I-695, which will be complete later this summer. SHA will close the right lane after 9 a.m. Monday April 2; the 24-hour lane closure will be in effect for approximately eight weeks, weather permitting.

3/13/2012SHA To Repair Sections of MD 23 (Norrisville Road) In Harford County - Spring 2012
SHA has begun a $600,000 project to repair and patch sections of pavement along MD 23 (Norrisville Road) between Harford Creamery Road and New Park Road in Harford County. Work began on Monday, March 12. Contractor crews will repair and patch damaged sections of the pavement and will need to close lanes between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.  During lane closures, sections of the two-lane roadway will be reduced to one lane, with flagpersons controlling two-way traffic within the work zone. SHA advises motorists to plan ahead for extra travel time and look ahead for flagging operations in the work zone.  SHA’s contractor for the resurfacing project is Gray and Son, Inc. of Timonium.  Weather permitting, SHA anticipates completing pavement repairs by late spring. 12/29/2011SHA Closing and Detouring Ramp from I-695 North to MD 372 East (Wilkens Ave.) Beginning January 4
SHA is closing and detouring the exit ramp from I-695 (Baltimore Beltway inner loop) to MD 372 East (Wilkens Avenue) on or after Wednesday night, January 4.  The ramp will be closed and detoured until early spring 2012 for construction work on the bridge carrying I-695 North over MD 372.   All motorists going from I-695 North to MD 372 East and West will use the ramp to MD 372 West during the temporary ramp closure.  (see attached Ramp Detour Map)

SHA announced the addition of the I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) outer loop work zone, the MD 144 (Frederick Road) interchange (Exit 13) in southwestern Baltimore County into the Maryland SafeZones program.   Speed enforcement cameras will be deployed on Tuesday, December 13.  The 21-day warning period will continue through Monday, January 2.  Citations will be issued starting Tuesday, January 3. The posted speed is 55 miles per hour through the work zone.

11/1/2011SHA Detours Late Night Traffic on I-695 South at Exit 13 (Frederick Rd.) Nov. 2 and 3
There will be an overnight detour/diversion of I-695 South/Outer Loop at Exit 13, the Frederick Road Interchange on Wednesday night, November 2  and Thursday night, November 3.  This detour is necessary for crews to safely remove steel beams from the Frederick Road Bridge over I-695 as part of SHA's $13.7 million bridge replacement project. Between midnight and 4 a.m., all I-695 South traffic will be diverted off I-695 South at Exit 13, through the Frederick Road interchange and back on to I-695 South.  Please plan for extra travel time on I-695 South on both nights.

SHA will split travel lanes on southbound I-695 (Baltimore Beltway Outer Loop) Exit 18 - MD 26 (Liberty Road) on or about Sunday night, July 24 as part of a $25 million project to replace the I-695 bridge over MD 26 (Liberty Road) in northwestern Baltimore County.  As of 5 a.m. Monday, July 25, all four lanes of the Outer Loop  will remain open to through traffic; however, there will be three through lanes open to the left of the concrete work zone barrier, and one through/exit lane open to the right of the work zone barrier.

4/26/2011SHA CLOSING ONE LANE ON WESTBOUND US 40 AT PATAPSCO RIVER BRIDGE ON OR AFTER MONDAY MAY 9; LONG-TERM LANE CLOSURE IN EFFECT THROUGH FALL 2011
On or about 9 a.m. Monday, May 9, SHA will temporarily close one lane of westbound US 40 (Baltimore National Pike) on the Patapsco River Bridge at the Baltimore County-Howard County Line.    This is a long-term construction-related lane closure that will be in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through fall 2011.  This is part of SHA's project to rehabilitate the bridge carrying US 40 over the Patapsco River bridge.

SHA is making permanent safety improvements to the Towson Roundabout beginning on or after April 26.  Temporary curb and reflective paddles installed in 2008 will be removed and replaced with new permanent curb and gutter, and portions of sidewalk and sidewalk ramps will be removed and reconstructed to meet the new curb line.  The project will be complete late summer 2011, weather permitting.

SHA will temporarily close and detour all lanes of westbound I-695 (Baltimore Beltway Outer Loop) at Exit 25 (MD 139- Charles Street) Sunday - Thursday nights beginning on or after April 12, weather permitting.  The temporary overnight road closures and detours will allow crews to safely set structural steel beams in place over westbound and eastbound I-695 for the new Charles Street Bridge.     The weeknight closures will continue for approximately three weeks, weather permitting.  During the overnight road closures all traffic on westbound I-695 will be diverted from I-695 at Exit 25, through the Charles Street Interchange and the Charles Street/Bellona Avenue roundabout, and back onto westbound I-695 prior to Exit 24 (I-83 North - Baltimore-Harrisburg Expressway).  The right-turn ramp from northbound Charles Street to westbound I-695 will be closed and all ramp traffic will be diverted through the roundabout to westbound I-695.

Carmel Road, through the interchange to northbound I-83 and back to Middletown Road.
